Clifford Evans

Biographie

Clifford Evans was a Welsh actor. As a conscientious objector he served in the Non-Combatant Corps in World War II.
During the summer of 1934 he appeared in A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Open Air Theatre in London.
Evans played many parts in British films of the 1930s, before starring in the film The Foreman Went to France in 1942. His most well-known later film roles were the two he played for Hammer Studios: Don Alfredo Carledo in The Curse of the Werewolf and the inebriated vampire-hunter, Professor Zimmer, in The Kiss of the Vampire.
On television, he appeared with George Woodbridge and Tim Turner in 1957 in the 15-episode series Stryker of the Yard. Between 1965 and 1969, he played a major role in the TV boardroom drama The Power Game, playing building tycoon Caswell Bligh. He is also notable for having been among several British actors to play the character of Number Two in the sixties cult TV series The Prisoner. He also appeared in The Avengers, The Champions, The Saint, and Randall and Hopkirk in the tenth episode "When did You Start to Stop Seeing Things?" in 1969.
